General Info

Tucked away in the heart of Alcázar de San Juan, Restaurante Parada Y Fonda feels like one of those places you stumble upon and instantly want to recommend. The location is easy to find, and once you arrive, the relaxed atmosphere sets the tone for a genuinely enjoyable dining experience.

From the moment I walked in, the vibe felt calm and unpretentious. It’s a quiet spot, perfect for solo dining or a laid-back dinner without distractions. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is a great option-there’s something about enjoying good food in fresh air that just makes everything taste better.

The menu leans into comforting, well-crafted dishes, and it doesn’t take long to see why locals speak highly of it in their reviews. I started with the Croquetas de Bacalao, which were crisp on the outside and creamy inside, with a rich cod flavor that didn’t overpower. Then came the Mejillones Tigre-bold, slightly spicy, and packed with personality. Each bite felt thoughtfully prepared, not rushed.

One of the standout dishes for me was the Empanadillas de Pollo En Pepitoria. The filling was savory and satisfying, wrapped in a perfectly cooked pastry. It’s the kind of dish that feels traditional yet still exciting. For something a bit different, the Burger Cordero offered a delicious twist-juicy lamb with a depth of flavor that makes it more than just another burger on the menu.

To finish, the Tarta Fina Manzana was a highlight. Light, slightly sweet, and beautifully balanced, it rounded off the meal without feeling heavy. It’s the type of dessert you remember long after you leave.

Service-wise, everything runs smoothly. They accept credit cards, which is convenient, and the staff maintains a low-key but attentive presence that fits the overall tone of the place. Nothing feels rushed, and you’re given time to enjoy each course.

Overall, this restaurant delivers a cohesive experience-from its welcoming location to a menu that feels both comforting and thoughtfully curated. It’s easy to see why it stands out among dining spots in the area.

What customers say?

“ An exceptional gastronomic experience. From the moment we entered, the waiter made the entire dinner a perfect moment to enjoy, sharing his knowledge of the different dishes. We started with an olive oil tasting that tastes like gold on your palate. We continued with oxtail and octopus croquettes, soft and delicious. We shared fried Manchego cheese with red berries, a contrast that explodes on the palate. For main courses, we had octopus, cooked to perfection with a unique spicy touch, and the Iberian pork shoulder, the star dish of the meal, cooked to perfection and marinated in a barbecue sauce that gave it a unique touch. For dessert, milk bread, a kind of chocolate coulant, freshly made by the chef. The chef's excellent taste in designing and preparing the dish is evident. Congratulations on such a unique concept in Alcázar. ”

“ A well-deserved top mark for the entire team. A welcoming restaurant where the customer service is excellent: they're attentive to every detail. They made us feel very well taken care of and pampered. They ask you questions, hang up your coat, make suggestions, explain everything with kindness, and then serve the food on beautiful plates, bowls, and platters with equally remarkable cutlery. Carlos made the reservation for us with exceptional kindness and helpfulness, as it was really difficult to get a table. Carlos is there in the kitchen, doing whatever is needed, and he's accompanied by a staff that goes above and beyond. Everything was delicious. The croquettes were some of the best I can remember. The pumpkin purée is so good I'd want seconds. The turbot and clams were magnificent, and for dessert, a curious flan made with sheep's milk. I honestly couldn't find a single fault. It's a bit far from the center, but when you eat here, you'll see how little that matters. To finish, we had coffee in beautiful cups that said "Fusione Café." I'd never heard of it before. Exceptional. ”

“ A fantastic meal! Both the appetizers and the steak (sirloin) were spectacular. The dessert (cheesecake) was very good. The service was very polite and attentive. We will definitely be back! ”

“ Exquisite food, an elegant and calm atmosphere, and unbeatable service. Everything was luxurious, with beautifully presented and flavorful dishes. The prices are more affordable than you might think, judging by the quality of everything else. Highly recommended. ”

“ Great experience I went to “Parada y Fonda” and was VERY pleasantly surprised. The place is beautiful, the service is perfect, the atmosphere is great, and the food… I tried the vegetable wok with octopus, cured beef, and unagi, and it was delicious—an amazing mix of flavors. We also ordered the cod fritters and the bluefin tuna tartare. Everything was tasty, with different textures and delicious flavors. The service was quick and friendly, the prices are perhaps a little high, but… in line with the quality. Highly recommended. ”

“ A super pleasant atmosphere; the restaurant is small and cozy, with elegant and modern decor. The food was delicious; we also ordered a Viognier from Hacienda Albae, which I highly recommend—super fresh and flavorful. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We've been back a couple of times and will definitely return. ”

“ I received some of the best service here in recent memory. The staff was attentive to our needs at all times, offering dish suggestions, comments on the preparation process, and much more. The food was exquisite and well-prepared. A little more expensive than average, but worth it. A special mention goes to the desserts. If you visit, ask because they are delicious. ”

“ In an area with good restaurants, it stands out for its excellent cuisine and impeccable service. The eggplants dressed with sundried tomatoes and cheese are delicious, but the cod fritters are impressive and a must-order. The kitchen is open, so you can see part of the preparation and plating, all impeccably clean. I'm from Jaén, so the thoughtful touch of serving extra virgin olive oil with the bread was a delight. It's one of those places you'll want to return to. ”
